To support the UK debut of the new Geely EX5, Geely Auto UK is introducing a comprehensive programme of launch finance offers and ownership incentives for both retail and fleet customers. Available through Geely Auto UK Financial Services, the campaign combines competitive rates with Geely Auto UK’s own contribution, the Geely EV Grant.

To further incentivise customers, Geely Auto UK is offering its own Geely EV Grant until the end of 2025; a discount funded by Geely Auto UK and applied to the recommended on-the-road price. The amount of the Geely EV Grant varies depending on the trim, with the Geely EX5 SE benefitting from £2,300, the Geely EX5 Pro £3,200 and the top-spec Geely EX5 Max £3,750.

A range of highly competitive retail finance are offered, with customers benefitting from flexible PCP, HP and Advance Payment Plan (APP) options, with representative rates from 3.9% APRand a choice of deposit levels.

Geely’s entry into the UK market is further supported by a complete, customer-focused retail network and support package, delivering strong after-sales support backed up by technicians with expertise in electric vehicles, and a proven parts supply chain. Operations begin immediately through a wholesale model, backed by a network of 25 franchised dealer showrooms across the country, with names such as Sytner, Stoneacre, Greenhous, Hendy and the John Clark Motor Group signed up.

Further dealerships are already in development, with a target of 50 nationwide before the end of the year, and 100 by the end of 2026, ensuring nationwide coverage as demand grows. The dealership network is complemented by online purchasing, remote consultation, and digital aftersales tools. 

While new to British roads, Geely is no newcomer. Geely Auto UK’s customer package is reinforced through trusted UK partnerships: The brand has joined The Motor Ombudsman, ensuring accredited service and consumer confidence. Finance and leasing are supported by CA Auto Finance UK, and Octopus Energy delivers charging and tariff support for home and public use. Geely Auto is also soon to announce that Green Flag will provide 24/7 roadside assistance, and Cord Power Technologies will deliver home charging solutions.

At the heart of the Geely EX5 is Geely’s Global Intelligent New Energy Architecture (GEA) – a sophisticated, multi-energy platform developed over five years and engineered to meet the complex demands of future mobility. GEA is an AI-integrated vehicle architecture that combines hardware, electronic systems, cloud connectivity and artificial intelligence into a single foundation. It has also been designed from the outset to support electric, plug-in hybrid, and range-extender powertrains for applications worldwide.

More than just a structural base, GEA serves as the central nervous system of the Geely EX5. It manages everything from energy efficiency to over-the-air software updates and smart cabin features to enable a new level of integration between the car’s mechanical structure and its digital intelligence.

This integration extends all the way to the Geely EX5’s battery structure, which is built into the body using Cell-to-Body (CTB) technology. This not only increases torsional rigidity – which benefits safety, refinement, and comfort – but also allows for more efficient packaging and improved interior space. Combined with Geely’s eight-layer battery safety system, advanced thermal management system and the GEEA 3.0 electronic & electrical architecture, the result is a high-tech, all-electric electric, new energy vehicle SUV with features and functions that will continue to evolve and improve over time.

Designed by a global team based out of the Geely Innovation Design Center in Milan, Italy, the Geely EX5’s award-winning aesthetics reflect Geely’s focus on elegant simplicity over visual noise. Conceived to suit global tastes, the porcelain-inspired curves of its gently sculpted body, complemented by a crisp LED lighting signature and flush details, are guided by aerodynamic efficiency. The result is a drag coefficient of just 0.269Cd – one of the lowest in its class.

The human-centred design focuses on warmth and tactility, but this is blended with short overhangs, confident haunches, a wide, dynamic stance and a sleek roofline to give purposeful proportions. Design touches such as the deployable door handles, full-width rear LED light bar and Red Dot Product Design Award-winning exterior styling elevate it above the class norm. The overall aesthetic is one of subtle sophistication.

The bright, spacious cabin has been created with day-to-day family life in mind – but without sacrificing comfort or style. The GEA structure that underpins the Geely EX5 cleverly allows the wheels to be pushed out to the corners and creates more room for the battery under the floor. This means that, despite its compact segment SUV footprint, the Geely EX5 offers as much occupant space as some midsize SUVs.

A key highlight – and a class-exclusive feature – are the fully flat-folding front seats (driver and passenger in SE and Pro trims; driver-only in Max trim) that transform the cabin into a relaxation or rest space for long trips, family days out or even in-car camping. Supportive ‘zero-pressure’ slow-rebound foam cushioning together with six massage functions plus heating and ventilation for both front seats (available in Max trim) make comfort a focus, not a luxury.

A 256-colour ambient lighting system, panoramic sunroof (offered in Max trim) and outstanding levels of refinement create an immersive lounge-like quality that transcends the Geely EX5’s accessible price point – all enhanced by sustainable materials and soft-touch finishes throughout.

Extensive in-cabin storage is another of the Geely EX5’s lifestyle-focused features. With up to 1,877 litres of load space available with the rear seats folded, a three-layer luggage compartment system, 14-litre under-seat rear drawer and other useful storage cubbies – 33 in all – for bags, phones, tablets, and personal belongings, the Geely EX5 easily adapts to weekends out, camping trips, the school run, and shopping trips, making it the perfect accompaniment to an active family life. A powered tailgate with five different height settings and a 1.1-metre-wide aperture adds extra convenience.

The Geely EX5’s digital cockpit is designed around the speed and power of an Arm processor. Together with the Flyme Auto operating system and an easy-to-use HMI design, the user experience is simple and intuitive.

The 15.4-inch HD touchscreen offers exceptionally crisp graphics and super-fast responses to user inputs. Key driving information is shown in the 10.2-inch HD driver display, which is augmented on Max models by a 13.8-inch head-up display which helps drivers to keep hands on the wheel and eyes on the road. An AI-driven intelligent voice assistant with more than 200 commands enables drivers to change settings in the climate control, navigation, infotainment, and even open and close the panoramic sunroof.

Online navigation is standard, ensuring that maps are always up to date and making it easy for drivers to find charge points on their journey. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto^*1 are standard too, which together with the Wi-Fi hotspot, makes media streaming easy. A 15W wireless charging pad ensures that the customer’s phone is always topped up, and an alert shown in the touchscreen will alert them if they forget to take it with them. A range of apps are offered, including Spotify, Audible, Amazon Music, and TuneIn, with more to come in future. Over-the-air software updates ensure that the system is always up to date.

Audio gets the premium treatment too. The 1,000W Flyme Sound intelligent audio system (available with Max trim) features 16 speakers, including headrest-mounted drivers for immersive or private listening – a technology usually found only in luxury vehicles. Multiple sound modes, from Opera Hall to Studio, adapt to mood, tastes and media.

Safety is a defining feature across all models from the Geely Group’s brands, and the Geely EX5 continues that strategy, evidenced by it being awarded the maximum Five-star Euro NCAP safety rating. The body structure uses an array of materials to deliver high levels of occupant crash protection, including high strength steel, advanced high strength steel, ultra-high strength steel, and hot-formed steel to reinforce the A- and B-pillars. Complementing occupant protection is a full array of seven airbags, while a deployable bonnet enhances protection for pedestrians and cyclists. 

Dual-phase steel with a high tensile strength of 1,500MPa is used in the sills to protect the battery cells in the event of side impacts. Cell-to-Body technology, which integrates the body and battery pack, is also designed to protect the battery, and contributes to the body structure’s impressive torsional stiffness of 31kNm/degree. The battery itself is protected by an intelligent thermal management system and cloud-based monitoring: in the event of a collision, it can shut down high-voltage power in just 39 milliseconds – around 10 times faster than the industry average.

A full suite of advanced driver assistance (ADAS) systems is standard across all Geely EX5 trim levels, including Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane Keeping and Emergency Lane Assist (LKA/ELKA), Emergency Manoeuvre Assist (EMA), Blind Spot Detection (BSD), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Door Open Warning (DOW), Traffic Sign Information (TSI), and a 360° camera system. These complete a comprehensive safety package that puts occupant and vulnerable road user wellbeing at the front and centre of the Geely EX5’s design philosophy and execution.

The Geely EX5’s all-electric powertrain combines responsive performance with efficient long-range ability. It’s built around Geely’s 11-in-1 high-performance intelligent electric drive system that combines a front-mounted electric motor with the transmission, inverter, battery management system, on-board charger, and thermal management system into one compact module for optimal efficiency, weight, and compactness. At just 79.8kg, the unit is one of the lightest in its class.

Performance is reassuringly brisk, with acceleration from 0–62mph in 6.9 seconds (7.1 for Max trim) thanks to an 218PS peak power output and 320Nm of instantly available torque, delivered to the front wheels via driver-selectable Eco, Normal and Sport driving modes. To enhance driver control in challenging conditions, the Geely-Traction Control System (G-TCS) is incredibly fast-acting and can cut wheel slip by as much as 50% compared to competitor systems. The ECU is also integrated into the 11-in-1 drive system.

The 60.22kWh battery (useable capacity) features Lithium Iron Phosphate ‘Short Blade’ cells for optimal safety and robustness, and enables a range of up to 267 miles (WLTP), while real-world efficiency is enhanced by the standard-fit heat pump that can scavenge energy from the outside air to reduce the load on the heater, an active shutter for the grille that reduces aerodynamic drag, and a regenerative braking system with three levels of recuperation. 

The battery also utilises Geely’s innovative ‘Magic Cube’ thermal management– a highly integrated system that consolidates some 20 separate subsystems into one module, streamlining heating and cooling control for the pack and the powertrain, and the cabin. This enables optimal energy efficiency in both hot and cold weather conditions and also contributes to cell-level safety by managing peak temperatures and minimising the risk of thermal events.

To make battery manufacturing more sustainable, maximise reuse of natural resources, and reduce the overall carbon footprint, Geely Auto’s parent Geely Holding has invested in its own battery material recovery operations. Recovery rates exceed 90% for lithium, nickel, and cobalt. The company is committed to Carbon-neutral manufacturing by 2040 and full renewable energy sourcing by 2030 in core facilities.

Charging is quick and convenient: at a maximum 160kW DC power, the Geely EX5’s battery can be replenished from 30-80% in just 20 minutes. At home, using a 7kW AC wallbox, 10–100% takes around 6.1 hours – ideal for overnight charging. With an 11kW AC on-board charger as standard, customers with three-phase electricity supplies and 11kW wallboxes can achieve even faster charging.

Customers can control the charging process through the vehicle’s touchscreen or using the Geely Remote Control App. This enables customers to schedule timed charging by specifying a start and stop time – perfect for matching to special EV energy tariffs and lower-cost off-peak electricity. Customers can also use the App to precondition the battery and the cabin to reach an ideal temperature before their journey begins. Using mains electricity to do this while the vehicle is plugged-in is more efficient than drawing power from the battery, maximising comfort and preserving vehicle range.

All models also benefit from the versatility of vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) power. Rated at 3.3kW, the Geely EX5’s V2L capability enables customers to charge e-bikes or plug in devices such as camp stoves, coffee machines and fridges, making it a mobile power source that supports every kind of outdoor adventure and enabling customers to make the most of electric mobility. Should customers wish to recharge another NEV, the 6kW V2L function makes this possible.

As part of the UK launch offer, Geely EX5 customers are offered a choice of two compelling incentives: either a reduced cost home wallbox in partnership with Andersen EV, or £1,000 public charging credit through Octopus Electroverse. The dual-branded Andersen 7kW smart home charger with professional installation is offered for just £499, which has a market value of £1,499 – saving customers £1,000 and helping make the transition to electric mobility as seamless as possible. The unit features a stylish slimline design, comes with a seven-year warranty, and is made in the UK.

Octopus Electroverse gives access to a network of over 1 million public chargers throughout the UK and Europe, and the Electroverse app and RFID card allow simple, one-tap charging across most major networks, with smart route planning which can automatically add charging stops to a journey, shows if a charger is available, in use, or out of service, and also enables drivers to find chargers with a specific charging speed or connector type, making it easy to charge on the go.

Benefiting from the Geely’s global engineering expertise, together with input from Geely’s own Coventry-based R&D centre and the world-renowned chassis engineers at Lotus, the Geely EX5 is the culmination of a global team of experts, working across a central innovation nucleus for the Group, to help create the GEA architecture used in the Geely EX5. Manufactured in China, the Geely EX5 has been fine-tuned for UK road conditions and driving tastes, following more than million kilometres of global testing across temperature extremes and terrain types. 

Springs, dampers and anti-roll bars have all been revised for UK-specific models, giving the EX5 a composed, predictable feel that balances ride comfort with accomplished handling to give extra confidence in everyday driving, from pot-holed B-roads motorway cruising. The MacPherson strut front- and multilink rear suspension, together with the body structure’s high torsional stiffness and the inherently quiet electric powertrain ensure cabin impressive refinement at all speeds.

The Geely EX5 marks the start of the brand’s journey in the UK, and while it is the first model to launch, it certainly won’t be the last. Consumer trust in electrification is solidifying as range, charging access, and residual value perceptions improve.
